GENETIC QUALITY – MILK
The Brazilian dairy producer finds at CRV Lagoa a safe source for his herd genetic improvement.
In the Dutch breed, CRV Lagoa supplies bulls from CRV, world leader in genetic improvement in that breed. Known for both the quality and reliability of its products, CRV has the best programs of genetic improvement in Dutch cattle – Etazon, Delta and Euro Donnor.
These programs are active in several countries and seek the best in genetics , so that they can obtain bulls with a differentiated descent and alternative pedigrees, many times exclusive.
Bulls pass through a previous selection and are directed to progeny testing, which testing was devised to get a minimum of 100 daughters in 90 herds, guaranteeing that in the first evaluation they have 90% of reliability in their tests. That is why CRV is known internationally as the reliable genetic source. CRV’s slogan is “your choice for profit”.
CRV Lagoa has a differentiated genetic choice policy for the Jersey breed. It seeks for bulls in different countries that have distinctive production systems.
We supply bulls from Canada and USA, countries well known for their high quality productions and type, and from Denmark and New Zeland, where we can find alternative pedigrees and an efficient production of milk on pasture.
For those breeders that opt for Milking Gyr, CRV Lagoa has a herd of proved bulls and in progeny test, originated from the most recognized Brazilian herds. Such bulls are carefully chosen and combine milk production with breed characterization, representing excellence in breed.
We also provide excellent genetic options in the races Girolando, Milking Guzera, and Milking Brown Swiss.
In 2005, CRV Lagoa implanted in Brazil the program for mating Sire Match, the best and most complete all over the world. This software was developed in Holland and is used and many countries. We have adapted this tool to the Brazilian producers needs, contributing to the milking herds genetic improvement.
In 2008 Milk Manager – a program for milking zebuine genetic improvement, was thrown. CRV Lagoa also innovated by using genetic markers for the selection of reproducers.

SEMEN QUALITY
CRV Lagoa endeavors to guarantee sanitary quality and fertility of the semen it supplies to beef and dairy Brazilian cattle raisers.
The fact that CRV Lagoa has both ISO 9001 and the Quality Seal for Fertilization turns CRV Lagoa into a company prepared to collect, industrialize and commercialize semen, making its products a source of reliability and profit for the clients.
Sanitary control – bulls and semen
All the semen produced and commercialized by CRV Lagoa passes through accurate quality control.
Control begins by choosing the reproducers that stand out either for their performance or by quality and results of their progenies.
Reproducers get to the Central, enter the Quarantiner and are submitted to sanitary control for various diseases ( Brucellosis, Leptospirosis, Tuberculosis, Campylobacteriosis and Trichomonosis), obligatory by the Ministry of Agriculture, and others such as Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) And Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD), non obligatory as official control.
At the quarentiner, not only andrologic evaluation or reproductive quality is made, but also clinic evaluation, blood typification, karyotype exam for some specific breeds and conditioning for semen collection using artificial vagina.
The reproducer then goes to the Definitive Collection Center where it will be sanitarily evaluated every six months.
Every day bulls are taken to the selection room and prepared with cleaning bath, asepsis of the prepuce and weighing . At the laboratory, the ejaculators are selected according to physical and morphological aspects; afterwards the semen is industrialized in thin straws (0.25 ml) that bring more advantage to the spermatic cells at the moment of freezing/thawing.
Quality control is made 48 hours after industrialization ( evaluation of cell metabolism and vitality, bacteriologic and virologic control IBR/IPV). The company is BVD free.
We work in partnership with the Biological Institute of São Paulo innovating in sanitary control with the introduction of tests for diseases as Leucosis, Bluetongue, Vesicular Stomatites and Foot and Mouth Disease.
CRV Lagoa Semen has the Quality Seal of Semen Fertilazation of CBRA – Brazilian College of Animal Reproduction.
